Hey my tablet workd by AnielaAbair Hey my tablet workd by AnielaAbair
Thanks to my awsome roommate my tablet is working. I used GIMP, it's really all I have other than manga creator 4.0 but I can't get it to use color. Ugh, long story.
I'm still faster with a watercolor paint bruch and more detailed, but everyone on gaia would rather have CG art so I adapting. Plus I would like to master this as well. It is an art form no matter much I dislike computers. So yeah....
I have no idea what to charge in RL or gaia gold for this kind of stuff. So price sugestions on either would be great. Thanks.

Honestly I don't care what medium you use to draw, I just love your style~ <3
People on Gaia are really the worst to deal with when trying to sell traditional arts, it's really quite a shame.

Hey, it's better than some of my CG attempts! I would say look at other shops on Gaia and see if you can find someone who's on about the same level artistic skill wise and charge what they charge or maybe a little less if you're just starting out cheap art makes you popular :D As for CG versus good old paper/pen/pencil/paintbrush I'm still partial to the old school. I think they like CG because it's cleaner or rather ends up cleaner looking most of the time. Unless your pro at scanning and cleaning up images then I don't think most people can tell.

That's just my two cents tho.

I have actually had people ask me what program I use on some of my pinups and they are watercolor paint. I use the computer to clean up the white spaces and thats about it. I love my watercolors. They are my babies.
Sadly I have lost art contests on gaia to CG art that was so so or obviously rushed, only because they were CG. It sux. I also see CG art that I wouldn't payy 100k for, go for a few mil and traditinal art that is fantastic but no one is willing to dish out good gold for it. Makes me angry but nothing I can do.

Damn Youngens! *shakes fists* no appreciation for what it takes to be able to use water colours and do it well. I think it's sick the amount of money some people charge for things that are obviously a base or a trace because that is a lot easier to do with digital art. The so-so digitals taking the cake over AMAZING traditional art, it's really a crime. It's like discrimination might as well move the traditional artists to the back of the bus and make them drink from the crappy water fountain while they're at it. You may find this interesting. I calculated how much a million gold was in RL money it's about $256 by my calculations. I took an item then looked at it's gaia cash value and used that to calculate how much gold per 1 gaia cash then converted that to dollars, I almost pooped my pants.

Lmao wow... So if only I could use that as a base to sell off my gaia gold for real cash. I would be pretty well off then. Wow.

Yeah it's a shame some (or in this case most) of the people on gaia can get rather snooty about art on there.
I do enjoy amazing CG art. I have a lot of great examples of that in my faves on here. Stuff i wish I could, and if I could I wouldn't be wasting my time on gaia lol.
But I do like gaia. I'm addicted to it. And I enjoy my friends on there and making new ones. On occasion I'll do free art if I want to try somthing new out and give some art to those who can't otherwise afford it. Aside from that I'm like all other greedy gaians. I am hoarding gold for my own art quest lol.

that's hilarious.
Yeah I have notice that a lot of gaians get really worked up about their art. Specifically some of the artists, I mean, If i'm going to pay someone a million gold they better be doing the image the way I want it or at least trying. Instead I go to some of these art shops and it's " I Will draw the image the way I want, I will remove items if I choose, some of my art will be better than others it depends how i'm feeling, i'll do it in whatever pose I choose and if you don't like it you can suck it. " It really makes me not want to buy art. On the other end of the spectrum you get people that are never happy no matter how hard you try and those people should be punched in the face.
I had never tried doing the art thing on gaia up until a month or so ago. I had always loved art but never really seriously got into it, ever since my dad told me an artist would be a fail choice of career. However, I have a lot more time on my hands now so I figured I would try and get back into it and see where it takes me.
Over all my Gaia experience has been pretty good, I think I made my first gaia when I was 15 or something and i'm....not 15 anymore, lol. I have noticed that it's quite different from how it use to be especially with how role plays work and what not it totally blew my mind. Anyways I'm kind of rambling, but You should add me on Gaia I would like to make some new friends and I want you to be one of them :p My S/N is xxdessiexx

I try to get all items in when doing art, but I swear everyone loves to clutterfuck the head of their avi lol. One girl's avi was more cluttered than I would of liked but she had past art refs that helped a lot so I took the order.
What bugs me is the customers who act like you have to be greatfull they want your art and treat you like a personal art slave. Those ones bug me.
All in all if I feel an art order didn't turn out to my standards and the customer is a friend or was really nice, I usually do them some sort of freebee as compinsation.
I'll add ya. Be on the look out for NuSith.
